The new Size 0

As a curvy girl, it's fairly obvious that the fashion world tends to under - represent us. But not being the often photoshopped and advertised shape doesn't make us any less capable of being fashion - forward & fabulous.
Whenever i watch television shows or movie involving plus size women, its always the same old stereotype : She is sad, with low self - esteem, poorly dressed, has no style & spends her nights at home alone fantasizing about being skinny. Why do I care? Well, lets be real. For better or for worse, the media plays a big role in what we like, what we wear, and with whom we associate ourselves.
By curvy i mean, women who are not exceptionally thin or are just above the average size. We cannot determine "Curvy" by mentioning a particular size. Curvy women come in various sizes & shapes.
Some celebrities who fall under the " Curvy Category " are :
Sonakshi Sinha, Vidya Balan, Mariah Carey, Beyonce, etc.

Today, curvy women are praised for being real & beautiful. A few years or maybe a few months back, the 'size zero' figure was considered to determine the meaning of " Beauty ". But now, there are a number of great curvy women who are models. Plus size modelling is a huge rage internationally and this concept is still on its way to India.
I can keep talking about " Inner Beauty ", but lets be practical. Most of us judge the book by its cover. So its extremely important to look presentable irrespective of the size.
What makes a curvy women different ?
Curvy women have curves. There are some parts of the body that might be slightly bigger than the rest.
How to solve this issue ?
It's all about loving what you have. Cover your flaws & flaunt your best assests. Nobody is perfect, but you gotta show your better side.

TIPS FOR CURVY WOMEN
  • Layering doesnt make you look big, but it does help to cover your flaws.
  • If you love showing off your legs, but don't have those 'killer legs', try wearing mid length dresses that hits just under your knees and is perfect for curvy women.
  • Love those shorts, but are not confident enough to wear them? Try pairing opaque stockings with them. If your shorts are on the tighter side, pair them up with an oversized shirt and vice-versa.
  • As opposites attract, you can wear an oversized shirt with skinny jeans or loose trousers with a fitted shirt.
  • Your cherry on the cake would definately be heels. It makes you look taller and your legs will automatically look longer. Invest in wedges, as they are extremely comfortable.
  • Always remember, if your entire outfit is of one colour, it will make you look taller and slimmer.
  • Try wearing ' High Waist' to hide your little tummy.
  • Combine your outfits with long necklace as it will lengthen your body.
  • You look thin in black doesn't mean that you have to only stick to it. Experiment with burgundy, deep blues, etc.
  • If you feel your bottoms are wide, try a brighter shirt and darker bottoms, as it automatically takes the eyes off the bottoms and emphasises the top.
  • Try to go for 'V' shaped necklines, as it elongates the length of your body.
  • Experiment alot with belts as they can add shape to your dresses. Thinner belts works very well on curvy women.
  • Want to try a pencil skirt, but are not sure because of your tummy sticking out a bit? Try shapewears. There are a number of lingerie stores that have shapewears to wear under skirts, dresses, etc.
  • Remember to always invest in good quality innerwear. If the foundation is perfect, then you do not have to worry about the rest.
  • If you have broad hands / shoulders, try wearing full or 3/4th sleeves.
  • Try out the latest trends keeping in mind what works best for your body and style. Play around with your style and trends.
Remember, no matter what size you are, it's always important to look your best. People will always judge, but what matters the most is Whether You Care!!

So be confident enough to flaunt your curves !!
